Energy System: Anaerobic Capacity (BJJ)
Difficulty: Development
Intention:
This was a brutal night. Kyle warmed us up with the same chest-to-chest drills we’ve been working (standing and from butterfly / butter-half guard). There wasn’t a specific technique, but lots of positional sparring; first with a “score only” criteria, then adding submissions and more specific scoring criteria.
I couldn’t find a video on YouTube for the exact positions I struggled in, but I did find one from Bmac emphasizing the (wrestling / standing) concepts I’ve been talking about and using them from butterfly guard.
The night ended with 4 minutes of a “slimmed” 305 lb. brown belt starting mounted on me. I escaped, with 10 seconds to spare.
Work:
5 x 1 minute chest-to-chest drill (standing)
5 x 1 minute chest-to-chest drill (half-butterfly guard)
~10 minutes drilling triangle to K-guard entry
10 x 1 minute (alternating top/bottom) first-to-score from half-butterfly gaurd
10 x 1 minute (alternating top/bottom) first-to-score-or-submit from half-butterfly guard
3 x 4 minute “bad positions”
