Energy System: Anaerobic Capacity (BJJ)

Intention:

Today’s grappling was tougher than it needed to be, but I was trying to stay on track with my mobility program and needed to get a session in before open mat, making 3 training sessions between Friday evening and noon on Saturday — I don’t recommend that.

The rounds were “easy” enough to not focus on winning and have some technical breaks in between. Remember, my focus this year so far has been on “perfect” or at least “better” rather than “harder” or “more” jiu jitsu, so don’t let the shortage of rounds fool you. Sometimes the hardest thing is to stay focused.

On the harder rounds I was still able to explore what I missed or was frustrated with on Wednesday, and did find a YouTube video with some details.

Work:

Open Mat:

  • 4 x 5 minute sparring rounds
  • 2 x 5 minute technical analysis / strategy rounds
