Energy System: Anaerobic Capacity

Difficulty: Cultivation

Intention:

Due to some medical issues (not for myself) class was a bit delayed, but all’s well that ends well. I had to step in and teach, so it wasn’t a full development session, but that’s alright since yesterday was a bit harder than I wanted.

At any rate, we continued working on leglock entries from butterfly-half-guard after also covering an armdrag to the back; which sets up the dilemma.

Interestingly enough, the principles I’ve been reviewing for my open guard passing have been helpful in countering many of these attacks as well.

Warm Up:

  • 5 x 1 minute grip fighting (standing)
  • 5 x 1 minute creativity work (butterfly guard to single-leg-x)

Work:

  • Drilling back take from butterfly-half-guard
  • Drilling leg lock entries from butterfly-half-guard (similar to video below)
  • Positional sparring from butterfly-half (objective to get to leg entanglement, no submissions)
  • Positional sparring from butterfly-half (score or submit)
