Energy System: Anaerobic Capacity

Difficulty: Development


Intention:

This was a hard, short, focused session. While I’ve been trying to focus on my guard passing, the opportunity presented itself for some hard comp-style rounds — scrappy wrestlers and similar-weight black belt.

It was a good day to practice strategy and tactics in real time — e.g. what’s the score with 30-seconds to go? Who’s been pushing the pace in the judges’ eyes? Not conceding positions, etc.

Not too much went wrong, but I was reminded by the (good) wrestlers that I can’t back out half way, lest I end up on bottom (when I didn’t want to be) and have a hole to dig out of.

Warm Up:

1 x 5 min creativity round (emphasizing high-step passing)

Work:

4 x 5 min competition focused rounds
