Intention:

I’m coming to the conclusion that I need to use my Morpheus HRM more often. I paid for it. I paid for the certification. I used it before, learned a lot, stayed on track, and somehow developed a obstinate fixation on not relying on external devices.

Sometimes that’s useful. Sometimes it’s ignorant to not use the tools available. I say that in the context of when I was focusing on minimal strength / conditioning and really emphasizing mobility for the first 6-weeks of the year, I felt great. I was excited for the couple days per week I allowed myself to grapple — which is a strange thing to hear.

I say all of that because today’s class had a different format where we really cut down on the technique portion (and open sparring) and emphasized positional training (call it “constraints led” if you’d like).

The easy rounds felt great, the hard(er) round felt unnecessarily hard. That’s relevant because I’m really leaning towards the fact that about two hard (development) sessions / week is what I can hand. I can try to get a third in, but it seems to degrade towards the high end of “cultivation.”
