Overview:

  • 8-Week Focus: Compete at ADCC Open Atlanta
  • Weekly Objective: Wrestling and transitions.

  • Soreness (1-5): 2

Training:

  • 2 x 3 minutes: Competition paced hand fighting
  • 5 x 3 minutes drilling: single leg set ups and single leg dump to inside heelhook
  • 2 x 3 minutes: uke for partner
  • 6 x 1 minute: positional sparring (escapes from side control)
  • 1 x 5:
    • Shoulder CARs
    • Hip CARs
    • Spine CARs

Review:

  • Difficulty (1-10): 6
  • Performance (1-10): 7
  • Mat Hours: 1
  • What worked well:
    • Partner feedback says my set-ups and transitions are smooth, thanks to mobility emphasis.
    • We did some good creativity training at a moderate pace but with mild resistance, which helped build confidence and stitch pieces together.
    • Hand and collar tie scrimmages feel strong.
  • What didn’t work well:
    • With a left leg lead, I was slow with my right collar tie. This is my opposite stance, so I’m trying to do everything backwards.
  • Plan for next time:
    • While I prefer a right leg lead, I still want my partner to collar tie on my left side to set up the right side shot. I just need to make sure that I tie up first and set the momentum.
