- What worked well:
- I feel like I’m creatively mixing upper and lower body attacks.
- Rib injury has healed well and doesn’t seem to be only minimally interfering if at all.
- What didn’t work well:
- Monday I came down with a cold, which seems to be clearing a little.
- The emotional roller coaster and nerves have fully set in.
- Wrestling set ups are a bit clunky, but that seems to emphasize the importance of not forcing things or getting tunnel vision – look for, and create, opportunities and don’t sell out on bad ones.
- Plan for next time:
- I don’t feel bad, just excited and anxious, so a lot of focus today was spent watching videos on managing pre-competition anxiety. What seems to be helpful for me taking a deep breath and heavy (mouth) exhale, and reminding myself of my competition strategy. “You belong here. Work the gameplan. Score first. Submit.” If that doesn’t work, we “blame the gameplan”, assess, and adjust later; there isn’t a personal value attached to outcomes.
