Overview:

  • 6-Week Focus: Ben Galper Basic Grip Program
    • As written: 4 sessions x 4 weeks, extend to 6 weeks to allow for grappling.
    • Limit sessions to 60-minutes (including warm up and support) to allow recovery.
  • Weekly Objective: Adjust difficulty and develop follow-up training plan.

Assessment:

  • Sleep Quantity (hours): 8
  • Sleep Quality (1-5): 3
  • Mood (1-5): 3
  • Soreness (1-5): 1

Training:

  • Open Mat:
    • 6 x 5 minute rounds, live sparring
      • Stuck to focus on HQ passing: 4 / 6 rounds.
      • One of the exceptions was spent helping a teammate work a position he requested.

Review:

  • Difficulty (1-10): 7
  • Performance (1-10): 8
  • Mat Hours: 1
  • What worked well:
    • Overall I did a good job staying focused during rounds.
    • I also did a good job in those rounds forcing myself back to the position(s) I wanted to work, instead of “just winning the round” with things I knew were already A-game.
  • What didn’t work well:
    • Not many people got to SLX from HQ on me, but SLX is a position I also want to spend some more time defending (specifically while trying to stay standing).
  • Plan for next time:
    • Continue with SLX work in class and review HQ passing.
